In an emotional speech on the Sindh Assembly floor, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has railed against the idea of dividing his province into two or more provinces.
Shah’s speech raises the following questions:
1. Why does a large country like Pakistan with over 200 million people have only 4 provinces when much smaller countries with many more provinces?
2. Why is it ok to create more provinces in Punjab but not in Sindh?
3. Would it not improve governance with fewer people in each province?
4. Would it not make it easier to deliver basic services to the people of the provinces were smaller?
